Cold Climate Products

Factory-insulated damper bodies for installations in unconditioned space: crawlspaces, near exterior walls, or anywhere the damper body sits below the indoor dewpoint and would otherwise sweat or frost. 24 Vac and 120 Vac options.

Choosing a cold climate damper

• 24 Vac, 2 to 9 in.: the HAC-L, insulated, on the same stall-protected Hoyme drive as the standard HAC. CSA certified.
• 120 Vac, 4 to 9 in.: the HAC-12L, insulated, with the built-in transformer of the HAC-12. CSA certified.
• Seal at the wall instead of in the duct: the MAC terminating-end damper installs at the wall penetration, so no column of cold air sits in the duct between ventilation cycles. The MOH motorized hood does the same with an all-weather hood. Both are CSA certified.

Why factory insulation

Field-wrapped insulation usually fails first at the actuator housing and the motor lead exits, which is where condensation and frost start. The -L bodies are insulated before assembly, so those points are covered. Specify an -L model when the damper location will see temperatures below the indoor dewpoint.
