Jon Eakes: the furnace room combustion air damper

Jon Eakes has recommended the Hoyme damper to homeowners with a chimney-vented furnace or boiler who are finishing a basement: a motorized damper tied to the thermostat supplies the combustion air the appliance needs, without the open cold air duct most people end up blocking off. In a later piece he described it as a well-known, common solution to combustion air on the Prairies.
