Current Canadian codes call for controlled combustion air and mechanical ventilation, and for an interlock wherever an opening can be closed.
Motorized Automatic Operation
Where a combustion air opening can be closed, the code requires the closing device to be interlocked so the appliance cannot fire with it closed. A motorized, interlocked damper meets that requirement.
Interlock-Ready Wiring
Hoyme combustion air and flue dampers have a built-in end switch wired in series with the thermostat, so the appliance fires only after the damper opens. On 24 Vac appliances no adaptor is needed. ADP relay adaptors cover millivolt and 120 Vac safety circuits.
Clear Sizing Guidance
Combustion air duct size follows the code in force. Where no local sizing code applies, the HOM instructions give 1 sq. in. of duct per 7,000 BTUH of total appliance input.
