What is the difference between the HAC-80 and the HAC-90?

Both use the Belimo FSLF US series fire and smoke actuator with UL 555S listing. The HAC-90 uses the FSLF24 US at 24Vac. The HAC-80 uses the FSLF120 US at 120Vac. Specify HAC-80 when only line voltage is available at the smoke damper location and a 24Vac control circuit is not available.

Can I use the standard TFB120 (HAC-44) instead of the FSLF120 US on a smoke damper application?

No. The TFB120 is not UL 555S listed and does not meet the torque, actuation speed, elevated temperature performance, or construction requirements for smoke damper service. Do not substitute HAC-44 for HAC-80 on a smoke damper application. The substitution will not pass inspection and creates liability exposure for the installing contractor and building owner.

Who specifies the action code — PO or PC?

The fire protection engineer specifies the action code based on the smoke control sequence of operations for the building. This is not a field decision. Different locations in the same smoke control system may require different action codes. Get the action code from the fire protection engineer in writing before placing the order.

Is the end switch required on smoke damper applications?

End switch wiring requirements are specified by the smoke control system design. The end switch on the HAC-80 provides position feedback to the fire alarm or smoke control system — confirming the damper responded to the control signal. Confirm end switch requirements with the fire protection engineer before ordering.

FSLF120 Damper: HAC-80 Belimo Fire & Smoke Actuator

Hoyme inline damper body fitted with a Belimo FSLF120 US fire and smoke actuator, 120 Vac, on/off with spring return. Sizes 6" to 20", even inches.

Not a listed fire, smoke or combination damper. This Hoyme damper assembly is not UL 555 or UL 555S listed and is not CSA certified. Where a code, a specification or the authority having jurisdiction requires a listed fire damper, smoke damper or combination fire/smoke damper, specify a listed damper assembly. Do not use this product in its place.

How the action code works on power loss

The FSLF actuator is spring return. Power Open means the damper opens when powered and springs closed when power is removed. Power Close is the reverse. Pick the action that puts the blade in the safe position for your sequence when power fails.
