Description

Product image is representative only. Actual product may differ in appearance depending on size, configuration, and options selected at order.

Motorized elbow damper for round duct fresh air and ventilation control where space constraints prevent installing a standard inline damper in the straight duct run. The damper blade is integrated directly into the elbow fitting — 2-position open/close control at the direction change, no straight duct sections required. Same patented Hoyme 24 Vac spring return drive as the standard HAC. CSA certified. Sizes 5"–9".

Specify the HAC-E only when the elbow is your only option. The standard HAC is always the preferred product when straight duct space is available — the actuator has clear service access and servicing is straightforward. On the HAC-E, the actuator is mounted on the elbow body itself and must be accessible after installation. Plan actuator clearance and service access at rough-in, before the space is closed up.
Control built into the elbow — no straight duct required upstream or downstream; designed for tight mechanical rooms and constrained duct layouts
Same patented Hoyme spring motor drive — stall-protected, nylon bearings, 24 Vac, identical to the standard HAC drive
PO or PC action — confirm before ordering; changing the action after installation requires full drive disassembly and is not practical once the unit is in a duct run
Proving end switch available — confirms the blade has physically reached position; required for ADP relay adaptor interlock sequences
No relay option — motor code 10 on all sizes; if a relay output is needed at the elbow location, a relay adaptor in the control circuit is the alternative
Use HAC-E when…
No straight duct available at the control point — elbow is the only option
Tight mechanical room — adding straight sections before/after a HAC isn't practical
Retrofit where existing duct layout only permits control at an elbow
HRV/ERV fresh air connection where the elbow is the only viable control point
Use standard HAC when…
Straight duct space is available — always the preferred install
Service access needs to be straightforward — actuator on inline body, clear approach
4" diameter needed — HAC-E starts at 5"
Relay output required — relay not available on HAC-E

Need ADP relay adaptor interlock? For ventilation code compliance — fresh air interlocked with furnace fan — use an ADP relay adaptor with the proving end switch variant (SPO). The ADP opens the HAC-E first, confirms blade position via end switch, then energizes the furnace fan. Order the SPO variant when using an ADP adaptor. See the ADP series for the correct model for your application.
