Installation Instructions for HMI HOYME RADP-0241-S10A
C/W Duplex Split Receptacle - Interlocked to a Gas Dryer/Damper Combination
24Vac Controlled Voltage Switches 24Vac and/or 120Vac Circuits

INSTALLATION OF THIS ADAPTOR SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE AUTHORITIES HAVING JURISDICTION

Refer also to Installation Instructions for: HOYME Adaptor RADP-0241-10A; HOYME MOTORIZED COMBUSTION AIR CONTROL.  This Gas Dryer/Damper combination shall be connected to the Secondary Circuit of the HOM-0x12-SF2 Combustion Air Damper.

RADP-0241-S10A

4” x 5” x 2 ½”
101 x 127 x 64 mm

This interface Adaptor is similar to the RADP-0241-10A but has a red light switch that will allow a gas dryer to operate only after the switch is manually turned on. The Adaptor is  interlocked to the secondary circuit of the combustion air damper HOM-0x12-SF2 that proves to be open before the dryer operates. The damper remains open until the red light switch is manually turned off. This Adaptor may also be used to simultaneously operate a replacement air damper and the furnace circulation fan which will assist air movement during the drying cycle.

This Interface Adaptor comes with an Interlocking Red Light Switch, a Relay 24Vac Coil SPDT to develop a 10A contact capacity for the outlet of the controlled side of the receptacle and a Relay 24Vac Coil DPDT to develop multiple contact points for motorized damper control. The 24Vac coils are connected in parallel and therefore act as one relay.

Fitness of this Adaptor/Damper combination to satisfy air supply requirements for fuel fired appliances during operation of the interconnected exhaust fan(s) shall be  investigated by the enforcing authorities.

Air intake duct installation shall be in accordance with: In Canada   CAN/CSA B149 & B139; In the USA  ANSI NFPA 2006, ANSI Z223. 1 and/or local codes including local codes relating to ventilation air duct installation.

c/w   Relay SPDT: Coil 0.02A, 24Vac.; Points 120Vac 10Amps; Relay DPDT: Coil 0.02A, 24Vac, Points 24Vac 05 Amps; 1-Split Duplex Receptacle with one side blocked. 1-Red Light on/off Switch

- If connecting to a heating appliance, use one Adaptor only for each appliance.
- Line voltage leads, connected to the Adaptor shall be suitably cabled, fastened and enclosed in suitable raceways.
- Refer to local and applicable codes.
- Always conduct a thorough check out after Installation is complete.
- Affix appropriate labels and follow Instructions and warnings on each label.

1. Connect 120Vac Power Supply to the Adaptor. Follow applicable codes.

a) Turn off electrical power supply to both the heating appliance and the power supply to the Adaptor. A plug-in extension supply cord connected to the receptacle of the Adaptor may also be used in lieu of hard wiring .

b) CONNECT LINE VOLTAGE LEADS TO THE SPLIT RECEPTACLE (LIVE SIDE ONLY) with line (WHITE) wire to the shiny screw and line live wire to the darker screw. DO NOT CONNECT LINE VOLTAGE TO THE CONTROLLED SIDE OF THE RECEPTACLE.

c) Mount the Adaptor next to the Gas Dryer for ease of Red Light Switch operation.

2. Connect the Adaptor to the secondary circuit of the HOM-0x12-SF2 Combustion Air Damper.

a) Use Combustion Air Control Damper HOM-0x12-SF2 connected to the Primary Heating Appliance. Refer to the Installation Instructions supplied with the Combustion Air Control Damper and confirm its operation.

b) Run a 5C-18Ga. wire along the gas line from the Heating Appliance to the Gas Dryer and terminating at the Adaptor.

c) Connect the Adaptor to the Secondary Circuit of the HOM Combustion Air Damper terminals #6, #7 and #8: Connect Damper #6 to furnace terminal ‘R’; Damper #7 to Adaptor 1; and Damper #8 to Adaptor 8.

d) Connect Adaptor ‘C’ to furnace terminal 'C' (or a ground screw on the furnace).

e) Turn on the electric power to both the heating appliance and the Adaptor. The Combustion Air Damper will close.

f) Plug the dryer into the Adaptor Receptacle.

g) Turn on the Adaptor Red Light Switch. The Combustion Air Damper will open and the Gas Dryer is now ready to be set for operation.

3. For heating systems equipped with replacement air ducts, use the Furnace circulation Fan to assist replacement of air flow to the dryer.

a) For thermostats having an ‘automatic/manual’ fan switch, connect the Gt of the Adaptor to the G of the thermostat and connect the Gf of the Adaptor to the G of the furnace. When the Adaptor Red Light Switch is turned on, the damper will open, the furnace fan will run and the Gas Dryer is now ready to be set for operation.

b) After the Gas Dryer has finished its cycle, turn the Adaptor Red Light Switch off. The furnace circulation fan will stop and the Combustion Air Damper will close.

4. To conserve energy, a damper may be added to the replacement air duct so that both the combustion air damper and the replacement air damper will control the incoming cold air. Both dampers will open for the heating cycle and/or the drying cycle.

a) Use a replacement air damper (Power Close type) that has two wires. Connect one wire to the Blue wire #5 of the Combustion Air Damper and the other wire to the Green wire #4 of the Combustion Air Damper. Both dampers will open for the firing cycle of the furnace or when the Adaptor Red Light Switch is turned on.

b) To improve the quality of air in the home when the furnace is not firing, set the thermostat switch to ‘manual’. Both dampers will remain closed allowing only warm air to be circulated in the home. The result is increased comfort while saving fuel at the same time. This installation does not interfere with the operation of the heating or cooling cycle of the furnace.
